Solar Electrification Project |
| Description |
Pulimarang, a remote
village in the Tanahu district is the first decentralized
Solar PV powered village of Nepal. The Pulimarang Solar
Village Electrification Project (PSEP) was initiated and
implemented by Centre for Renewable Energy. Solar Electric
Light Fund (SELF), a USA based not-for-profit organization
then headed by Mr. Neville Williams provided fund for
the procurement of first 40 unit of solar home system
and operational overhead cost. Solar Electricity Company
(SEC) of Nepal supplied all the solar PV system components
for this project.
The project was designed to create revolving fund by charging
subsidized price for the installation of the solar home
system. Those who were willing to pay in one installment
were subsidized for 50% of the system cost and those who
wish to pay within 3-year period were subsidized 35%.
From the fund created by payment additional 6 plus 18
solar home system were procured and installed in the village
with in three-year period. Because of success of this
project His Majesties Government of Nepal initiated subsidy
for solar home system |
